Borishnikovs Crafting Guide

It seems that every day at least one person asks me for advice on crafting, so i decided to make a short level by level guide on the best methods of raising your crafting level. Please note this guide is made for members-only methods, so if you are a free player, i suggest visiting a dedicated RsHelp Site.

☻ Level 1 - 10

Kill cows at Lumbridge or beside Crafting Guild then take the hides to the north west Al Kharid to the tannery, trade with the tanner in order for him to manufacture your leather. Click the appropriate symbol then head over to the crafting shop to the east of Al Kharid. Once here, purchase about 500 thread and a single needle then use the needle with your tanned leather and make Gloves. This is the fastes experience from 1-10.

☻ Level 10 - 63

I reccomend now that you have reached level 10 you head over to Seers Village and start picking flax south of the bank, once you have collected a full inventory of flax, head up to the spinning wheel which is a bit north-west of the flax field. Be aware that once you arrive there you might be thinking "where is the wheel, i don't see it" a lot of people get confused here as the wheel is in fact upstairs, so simply climb the ladder then use your flax with the wheel. Right click the bowstring symbol, then 'Make x' type in the amount you want, then simply watch and wait while your character makes the bowstrings. This is the fastest way to get experience, this is the method i personally used. Of course there are many other methods available, but i found this to be the most effective, and social too, as you can have a conversation with the many crafters who are spinning at Seers Village. Once you have made your bowstrings, there are always buyers so simply put them up on the Grand Exchange and if the price is right, they should sell almost instantly making yourself a full profit.

☻ Level 63+

When you reached level 63 you now have the ability to make full green dragonhide, so if your combat level is high enough, you should head to some green dragons and kill them, bank the hides then proceed back to the tannery for manufacture. Once the hides are tanned, craft them into Green D-Hide Bodies then sell them on the Grand Exchange, the reason these sell is because many Magers buy them to alch as there is a lot less lost than simply alching Yew Longbows, this is an advantage to crafters because it means a quick sale and therfore, quick cash. An alternative to killing Dragons is actually buying the hides, but this can prove expensive and with the ever rising price of hides, you lose a tremendous amount of money once you craft the hides into bodies. This method is the best and also my chosen method of crafting from level 63 all the way to the big 99.

Of course there are many other methods for crafting to 99, but they are considerably slower:

☻ - Flax: you can continue with flax, this is a very good money maker. YOu can buy the flax and spin it or pick the flax yourself for 100% profit.

☻ - Silver: Favoured by F2P players, you can also make Tiaras from silver. This takes a very long time though, and i certainly wouldn't recommend it.

☻☻☻ I have worked out that it will cost around 80 million gp to raise crafting from 63 to 99. This is using the preferred method of buying hides and tanning them yourself. It costs a lot more if you buy your hides ready-tanned. From 90-99, it costs 50 million gp so i can't see this being a popular choice for a 99 skill. ☻☻☻

I hope this guide has been of help to you, and i wish you luck with crafting for the future.

Who am i??

I am Borishnikov, i have been playing Runescape since early 2006, before that i had tried it in 2004 but never really accomplished anything and if i remember rightly, went around begging for iron armour, oh to be back in those days again. Anyway i've been playing for a long time now and i'm very happy with what i've accomplished in the game, i recently achieved 85 ranged and 85 magic which were my long term aims since early 2007, even though i originally aimed to get 85 Magic in order to cast teleblock, but Jagex removed that, thank you very much!. My best achievement of my whole Runescape 'career'(for lack of a better word) is undoubtedly 97 crafting, soon to be 98 then of course 99 and that oh so gorgeous cape!. Anyway Enjoy yourself reading the various parts of my blog and i hope it's of help to your Runescape experience. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at: Borishnikov@hotmail.co.uk.

Thanks

Master Crafter

As those who know me are aware: i have been working on 99 crafting since about July last year and it appears that my journey is very nearly over.

I'd like to thank the following people who helped me be it tanning or donating:

  • Brown_Flopsy - No. 1 Tanner Ever

  • Scouser489 - Helped me to tan hides

  • Alibongi - Helped me to tan

  • Aquariuskent - Sadly quit towards the end of last year and will be greatly missed. On her last day she donated 2000 green Dragonhides to me as a special gift whilst clearing her bank.
